Dialectical Behavior Therapy
DBT is based on CBT but adapted for people who experience very intense emotions. DBT helps you learn to accept your reality while also learning new skills to change unhelpful beliefs and behaviors. DBT challenges you to face and deal with difficult emotions instead of suppressing or using unhealthy coping mechanisms to shut off emotions. The four key skills of DBT are Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Interpersonal Effectiveness, and Emotion Regulation.
